October! We've made it into the fall months!
In the beginning (I think) of October, we went to an open house that Lamont was hosting. It was the first time we visited Scott's new work (Max has finally stopped complaining about not being able to see daddy at his castle) and we were all excited to see it. Anyway, because of the open house, we decided to walk around and see the different buildings and the stations they had to offer. It was pretty neat. They had a lot of fun educational activities for the kids and while Max and Zac were just a little too young to understand a lot of it, the science that they (Max) could understand (like volcanos) is still talked about today.
So here's a brief look at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory. I didn't take that many photos, but maybe we'll go and explore some more another time (and without thousands of other people doing the same thing).

△Sitting at the desk is a signature Max move.△
△Trying out some of the hands on stations they offered.△
△This was an AMAZING moment for Max. He's currently obsessed with science and nature so this volcano station was a huge hit with him. We were reading books about Volcanos at the time, and here he actually got to participate in "making lava."△
△Waiting for the "garbage" volcano. Max still talks about this almost daily. △
△Our little wanderer.△
△The building across from Scott's office. They were offering "Pig-pen" test to the children and giving out prizes for the dirtiest. We tried to get Max to participate but he was a little shy about it.△
△Max got to do a little coloring while learning about El NiƱo.△
△Zac flirting with the woman in charge of the station.△
△Learning about subterranean imaging using balloons...△
△...which were popped in the water and this was Max's reaction. Priceless.△
△Max not looking at anyone because he's defending his ice-cream.△
△ Zac's crazy ice-cream face.△
△And the end. A nice stroll downhill to the car followed by a long nap.△
