Park Güell. Another Gaudí masterpiece. I won't go into the historical details, but if you're curious here's a link.
On this day, we decided that it would be nice to walk up to the Park. It was a beautiful day, from what I remember and by the time we reached Park Güell, it was mid-morning, so it was early enough not to be really crowded and it was late enough to have warmed up for us to take off our jackets. So pretty perfect. While we were there during the off season, we did find out that the park (which use to be free) was now charging a very small entrance fee and were limiting the amount of people going into the park. Some people might not like the change and I'm not sure if it still gets really crazy during high season, but with the limited amount of people allowed in at one time and not allowed re-entry (I guess that was an issue with people just hanging out all day) we were able to take our time and look at the intricate architecture and mosaics without feeling pushed around or rushed. It was quite fantastic.
On a personal side note, Max is at this weird age (THREE) where he wants to go explore new places (with one of us in tow, obviously) but only the places that he wants to go. Like you say "lets go here," and he says, "no, I want to go there." Then you say "sure", and suddenly you're an asshole for agreeing with him. We kind of have learned to just follow his lead since he's really stubborn sometimes (I wonder were he gets that from). It's all very confusing and I think we're almost out of this crazy phase, but he still has his moments. I can't wait to see how he is during Zac's birthday (she said sarcastically).
Anyway, Zachary was asleep for most of it, but Max had a great time dragging us around. At one point we were playing hide-and-seek in one part of a building. How cool is that to say you played hide-and-seek in Park Güell surrounded by awesome art and architecture? Maybe not so cool to a toddler who won't remember any of this, but I think it's pretty cool which is all that matters, right? Someday I'll print out all these photos from our travels and just embarrass that crap out of him.
So here are the photos from the morning and look! Blue sky! And SUNSHINE! Here's to hoping for spring and warmer weather in the weeks to come. At least I have my fingers crossed. Enjoy!

△Behind Scott and Max you can see holes along the wall. Apparently they're bird nests that Gaudi had put in.△
△Such pretty tiles!△
