Since the weather was so nice in Barcelona, we did a lot of walking around. Most of the tourist spots on our list were within walking distance from our flat and even if the metro or a bus could bring us to where we needed to go, we would walk. Depending if it's within an hour, an easy trek, and not pouring rain, we try to walk in the cities we visit just to get to know the place. It's usually walking to where we want to go, and then getting transportation back because by that point, we're usually pretty tired.
Anyway, while we had a list of things that we wanted to do/see, we left some days to improvise and just looked at a map to see what other things were around that might be of interest. The Christopher Columbus monument ended up being one of those, "I guess we should see it," stops. I had also heard about La Rambla, and since it was pedestrian friendly and led the way to the Christopher Columbus monument, we decided to walk from the city center down. By doing this, we were able to let Max walk with us (usually when it's too crowded and chaotic we tell him to stay in the shark stroller) and take our time.
I guess during the summer months, this stretch of the city is crowded with vendors, street performers and tourists, but again, because we were there in the fall, it was pretty quiet. We got to taste some of the fresh fruit juices and local pastries. We saw a woman dressed as Marilyn Monroe twirling in a balcony outside an erotica museum. We even walked through La Boqueria without feeling claustrophobic and at the end of all this, we finally reached Christopher Columbus before turning around and taking the metro back to the flat just in time for a nap. So it was a pretty perfect day.

△These juices were delicious△
△There were just slabs of dried meat everywhere. We were also surprised by how expensive some of them were. △
△Also seafood△
△When I carry Zac in the Ergo, he doesn't relax as well as Max used to at this age. He is constantly bending over backwards to see ahead… I guess he likes looking at everything upside down and throwing his mother off balance...△
△Almost to the end of La Rambla and to the Christopher Columbus monument△
△Zac turned 8 months while we were in Barcelona. Look at that face!△
△Cute and also very sarcastic. That's Max!△
△A typical family photo with everyone looking everywhere but at the camera.△
