Sorry for the hiatus, but 'tis the season and we've been traveling… so here we are again. Scotland!
Since we really wanted to see some of the highlands, Scott looked up some possible places that we could go with the kids and it just so happened that we were a couple hours drive to Glencoe. Apparently this is a popular filming location (Highlander, Braveheart, Skyfall, & multiple Harry Potter movie scenes were filmed here) as well as a tourist hot spot (but being there during their off season made the drive less stressful and places to stop for taking photos less crowded).
Anyway, most of these photos were taken while driving, so a little blurred and blotchy (i.e.bug guts). We decided to take the trip during Max and Zac's nap time so there was about two seconds of stopping and I didn't dare try to open the door. Zac is much better now, but at the time, he was a terror in the early to late afternoons. So if he fell asleep when we were driving it was awesome because he would sleep for a couple of hours, but if you stopped moving or something (like a door opening and closing) were to wake him up… forget it. Screams for the rest of the way until you took him out of the carseat. All tantrums aside, it was a breathtakingly beautiful drive. The highlands were amazing and to drive through such a wild landscape … well the photos I took don't do it justice. I guess part of the experience is to experience it; if that makes any sense.
I hope you enjoy the photos and I'm looking forward to posting the rest of our UK trip as well the random photos from the past couple months AND our trip to the Barcelona!
△look at how close the cars are to each other and the curves on this road reminded me of driving through the Redwoods when we lived in NorCal. Also, bug guts.△
△some of these houses and restaurants along the way looked like really old, country homes. they looked like they were cold as hell on the inside, but from what I remember from our trip, most of the buildings we went in were actually quite the opposite. Like REALLY hot.△
△That's Scott's dream house right there. In the middle of nature without another home for miles. It also happens to be my worst nightmare. A two hour drive to go shopping! Good grief!△
△no tripod, no tourists, no problem. just balance the camera on a rock and hopefully they come out much clearer then these ones. Also, 3 out of 4 of us looking at the camera at the same time is pretty awesome. Usually it's only one of us, or none of us looking in the same direction.△
