Guess what?!? The LaPoints can FINALLY add a new country to the "places we've been" list!
We've always been on the fence about whether or not to go to the UK. Scott went to Oxford a couple years ago and wasn't really wowed by what he saw (what a snob, right?). So it was always on the maybe list until this year, when we we were like: we have a friend that lives in Scotland that we would like to visit… why don't we turn this into a week-long road trip through the United Kingdom? So we flew into London, rented a car, and drove.
The first stop was a day in Wales. We had heard that it was a pretty country, but with two small children, hiking hours to get to a certain point because of the view, wasn't really an option. So we picked a small town in Northern Wales that was by the ocean and near a landmark. It was perfect. The town was very cute and the hotel we stayed at was amazing! Very Welsh (if that makes any sense). The people were super nice, the food good (I had an English breakfast… it was yummy but I still don't get the beans) and I really wish I had gotten a picture of the room because the family suite was interesting… not in a bad way but you know, quirky.
So here are the photos from that day. We started at the beach, which was a block away, then went on to tour castle ruins before continuing north to Scotland.

△Max started watching this show called Puffin Rock, which portray Seagulls as a scary bird, so of course he was excited to see them at the beach△
△Scott almost booked this hotel for us, but said that after he REALLY looked at it, it was kind of creepy… and in person, it definitley looked like something out of a Stephen King novel△
△The street that we stayed on△
△My very first red phone booth sighting!!△
[Conwy Castle]
△King Max on the way to his castle△
△Driving up to the castle.
(On a side note, Scott did an AMAZING job driving on the opposite side of the road. I was only a tiny bit scared)△
△The views were amazing. Fall in the UK is on point.△
△Parts of the castle:
In the photo of the left, they used to hold court and if you were found guilty of anything, they lead you behind and under the fireplace that you can still make out in the ruins. Apparently the jail was a "short" drop down△
△At the very top:
Max was so brave when it came to heights. I'm a complete chicken, but he was fine going up and down the windy stairs△
△The back of the castle△
△The front entrance△
Next Stop: Scotland!!!!
