Luxembourg City

For Scott's very last conference of the year, we traveled to the little country of Luxembourg that sits comfortably just above France and right next to Germany.  After asking around the Institute to see if anyone had ever been to Luxembourg or Luxembourg City, it became quite clear that this was not a tourist hot spot.  So we went in blind, not really knowing what to expect, and ended up being pleasantly surprised.

Not only was the city built in a fortress that once had a main Roman road run through it, it is also very clean, very "wall street" and VERY rich.  It seemed to have a "work hard play hard" feel to it, making me wonder if we had taken a wrong turn somewhere on the autobahn and ended up in Manhattan.  Plus, instead of one language, they rocked two main ones.  French AND German.  So lucky for me, since I know a little of each,  I was able to butcher both languages without feeling too bad since it seemed that for once, I was kind of being understood.

Anyway, the trip itself was fun and educational.  I would definitely recommend going to Luxembourg City even if it's only for a day just to take in the architecture of the old, new and natural.  Plus the shopping is fabulous and in a five block radius.  Nowhere else in the world have I seen Louis Vuitton located diagonally and within spitting distance to H&M.  I almost had a fashion induced heart attack!

So enjoy the pictures and sorry if some might not be as clear (because of course I'm the best photographer in the whole wide world) as they should be.  I've been teaching myself new features on my camera and of course some genius (me) thought that vacation photos would be the perfect time to try them out.  My bad.
