Meersburg Wine Festival 2011

20110921

Nothing says you're a wino like taking an hour long trip with 50 transfers (not really, but it felt like it) involving buses, trains and ferries in order to go to a wine fest in a neighboring town that you've already been to.  I can't help myself.  I just love wine too damn much and when it's good wine, well then all rational thought goes right out the window.  Does that mean I have a problem?  Maybe, but it just seems wrong not to try and experience Germany by consuming it at every possible moment.

If there's any doubt in your mind about whether or not to attend a local wine or beer festival, here's some fun facts to help you make up your mind.  First and most important, there's ALCOHOL (in this case, wine).  Second, you get to witness druken shenanigans.  In Meersburg, we had the pleasure of watching a group of drunk shirtless Germans wearing cowboy hats (plus one guy who had a stuffed animal tied around his neck for some reason), get ticketed and kicked out of the festival by the German police.  Third, awesome food.  And finally, the music.  Nowhere else in the world can you experiance music at it's finest then at a festival.  Back home in the states, that would be bad 80s country rock. In Germany it's wonderfully catchy traditional songs that incourages intoxication.  It's a fact that every fifteen minutes or so, the band busts out the drinking song and everyone gets to "Prost" till they can "Prost" no more.  I'm surprised that the night doesn't ever end with everyone just fighting each other.

Anyway, I apologize for the caffeine induced rambling and will just sign off with pictures of our adventure that ends with a breathtaking view of the alps at sunset.
