We didn't do much traveling last spring. Instead of sending Max off to pre-k, we decided that homeschooling him fit our family better which meant we stayed pretty close to home. Monday through Friday we had morning lessons followed by either playdates, library time or touring museums. Lucky for us, Max was a super enthusiastic student who loved to learn and actually seemed to have fun doing it. He did test my patience at times, but in the end, we both came away with something: he learned his letters and numbers, while I learned that I was never, ever meant to be a teacher.
Anyway, I guess all our hard work paid off! He was registered for Kindergarten in early spring and passed the screening in May with flying colors. We even got to take home the dinosaur that he cut out because (not to brag or anything) it was perfect! The dinosaur was in one piece, he cut on the line, and it wasn't missing a head.
Besides Max learning stuff, the only other thing I can think of that was HUGE for us as a family was that Zachary gave up diapers right after his second birthday. He still wears them when he's sleeping or when we're going on a long trip but that's more my choice then his. I'm not entirely ready for the middle of the night wake ups (we just got done with teething… I think) and wet car seats. Plus, Max wasn't fully potty trained until he was three so I still have time!
So that's a wrap for Spring! I can't wait to share everything we did during the summer! It was a busy one filled with lots of fun!
△Max just loved learning new things and then showing his brother.△
△Zac got a sandbox for his birthday and that was a HUGE hit with the boys.△
△The first street fair of the year. During the warmer months, Nyack has a monthly street fair and weekly outdoor farmer's markets.△
△Lola came to visit one weekend to watch Max at soccer practice and she stayed for the street fair. △
△Of course the boys still love pretzels… even though they're not nearly as yummy (and cheap) as the German ones.△
△A photo from Zac's birthday. This photo pretty much tells you all you need to know about him. He loves cars and he loves food. So of course he's in the kitchen, playing with cars and while someone's at the stove cooking. He still gets yelled at for being in my way during every meal prep.△
△Max made a volcano for one of his lessons and we got to erupt it after it was completed. They were a little disappointed that it wasn't an explosion like the garbage volcano as Scott's work, but at least it foamed!△
△One of our field trips was to the American Natural History Museum in Manhattan. Max is obsessed with space and dinosaurs so of course, those were the sections that were mandatory to visit.△
△Museum time with a friend:)△
△Waiting for Daddy to honk his horn as he leaves for work.△
