Spring Time Soccer Fun

20171001

I'm so excited that I finally got around to posting some of Max's soccer (or football) photos.  We talked about it with friends and family but I don't think I really shared any photos of him in action… so here they are!

Every practice was split into two halves.  The first half, they did fun drills and little tag games.  Max LOVED it and was actually really great at following directions.  The second half, everyone was split into teams and it was basically 15-20 minutes of pre-k and kindergarteners running full speed after a ball while trying to kick it into a little goal.  It was chaos, which he HATED and I don't think it  helped that he was one of the smaller kids in the group so he was running around a lot more than everyone else.

I should also confess (because Scott will probably want me to) that I was THAT soccer mom.  You know, the one that gets crazy and yells from the side line.   Yup.  I tried to be better about it as the weeks went on, but I have to be honest.  IT WAS REALLY HARD.  I'm super competitive, ask my husband...

It was an interesting first try at sports and we're really excited to either try soccer again in the spring or find something new that he might also be into. Anyway, here are the photos of Max in his soccer element!

△The start of practice where Max had the most fun.△
△Side line shenanigans.△
△Drill time and Max was pretty awesome at following directions.△
△Drink breaks when they were playing in teams and Max always looked super miserable when walking to the side lines.  Mostly because he was hungry.△
△Here's an example of the "matches" these kids played.  10 players against one ball.△
△Zac is definitely the sporty one of the two.  He was all about playing on the side lines and it was hard to keep him from joining in with the older kids.  There's a local soccer program this fall for the little ones, but Zac has to be at least 3.  So next year!△
△Max was always yawning during the games.   ALWAYS.  I'm actually surprised that he didn't fall asleep during his practices.  lol.△
And that's a wrap!  We'll see if Max wants to sign up for soccer next spring. I'm guessing he will but who knows?  He wanted to do skateboard lessons this fall (we have an awesome skate park just down the road) but we would have had to run from the bus stop to practice and I'm just not ready for the after school program stress.  Maybe next year!
