The Colosseum

20111208

After a brief hiatus, here are some photos of the Colosseum.  The next three weeks are going to be pretty hectic for us, but I promise to have ALL the Italy pictures as well as a few pics of our apartment here in Germany on the blog before we fly back to good ol' U.S of A for the holidays!  Whoot!

Above the cross is where "Important" people would sit.
A View of Palatine Hill
The Arch of Constantine.

Some Roman soldiers hanging out.

A layout of what Rome use to look like.
The middle part was used as a basement for the gladiators and animals, and the "stage" that is partially rebuilt above was coverered with sand to absorb blood.  FYI. the word arena means sand in Latin.

The white marble is from the original Colosseum before Rome burned.
