Being in Paris is an amazing, once in a lifetime, opportunity. However, overcast and rainy Paris makes for an amazingly tiring day. So instead of trying to do everything at once and as quickly as possible(before it started to rain again), I made a trip across the river to the Louvre to check things out. The view of the castle/museum was breathtaking, to say the least, and the line was... LOOOONG. Good thing I know that the museum has FOUR entrances and some are not so well known, making their lines shorter and quicker.
Since Scott was still at the conference(so no art history lessons today), and I knew that Carrousel du Louvre was nearby, I decided it would be fun to check out. The mall, located directly underneath the Louvre, is home to the upside down pyramid that most of us our familiar with thanks to the DaVinci Code and Tom Hanks' weird hair. The mall itself was nice and expensive looking, but the one thing that stood out, even more than the crazy pyramid in the center of the building, was Starbucks. Gotta love that even in Paris, you can't escape the over priced, over roasted coffee brand. I'm more of a Dunkin' Donuts gal, but it was almost tempting to try a Caramel Macchiato just to see if it tasted different then it does back home. ALMOST. One look at the price(4€ for a small, excuse me "tall", is ridiculous) and I quickly turned and walked away.
So now I'm back at the hotel. It's time to rest and relax because I have a killer itinerary set up for the next few days. Lots and lots of walking!
